Red Light Music is the radio show I hosted on my college radio station, Howler Radio, from 2015 until I graduated in 2018. The idea behind the show was to present loosely-themed mixes, under the broad umbrella of electronic music but often venturing far afield into neo-classical, metal, and hip-hop. The show's description reads:

"Red light music is a bi-weekly exploration/curation of electronic-based music. Each episode's mix is guided by a different musical or personal theme, but all are united by sexy synths, seedy basslines, and stroboscopic intensity. This is music to love and hate to, cook or make love to, grind or gently touch to, and always move to."

The show started off as a way for me to collect and organise the music that had shaped me and that was part of my life. Organising each show was first more about finding common themes or stylistic similarities in the music. I exhausted the genre-themed approach pretty quickly and then began using more abstract themes to guide my curation such as an emotion, or a specific event, and then to try and shape a journey around that theme using the music. To this end, this show wasn't much about me discussing the music, hence why I rarley spoke during the broadcasts.

The show morphed into a third phase once I had exhausted my existing music collection. It now became a bi-weekly research project which forced me to discover and search for new music.

Lastly, as my interest in electronic dance music and live mixing developed, I began to perform live mixes for show in the last few broadcasts.

Most of the epsiodes are archived on the show's Mixcloud page, and can be listened to below. Each broadcast has an accompanying artwork which can also be viewed below.
